It is hard to believe that summer is coming to an end and school is about to begin! Summer is always a great time: the kids are out of school, more time is being spent outside, vacations are being taken, and it is not hard to find cool things to do locally. In this post we are going to go over some time saving ideas to make packing lunches for the kiddos a more pleasant and hopefully less stressful event.
- If you do not have a container with dividers or want to send a variety of food, cupcake liners are a great option for keeping food separated while at the same time keeping everything in one container.
- Wanting to pack apple slices but afraid of them turning brown? A simple trick is to place the slices of apple in a bowl with 4 cups cold water and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and let them soak for 5-10 minutes.
- You can pre-package crackers, popcorn, pretzels, nuts, etc in baggies and place the baggies in one container in the cabinet so all you have to do is grab a bag and place in the lunchbox. You can also organize cold items such as applesauce, yogurt tubes, fruit, veggies, etc in a container in the refrigerator for easy grab and go access.
